Celebrating 50 years in 2013

After attending a performance of BYE BYE BIRDIE at Oklahoma City University in 1962, Mrs. Norman Handel, felt that the production has all the ingredients for a musical theatre in Oklahoma City.

She contacted several Oklahoma Cityans including Charles Bennett, James A. Bermingham, Jr., Luther T. Dulaney, Jack Durland, Dow Gumerson, Breene Kerr, John E. Kirkpatrick, Hardin Master, Don Watters, J. Robert Wootten, Mrs. Gordon Ferguson, Mrs. E. L. Gaylord, Mrs. Norman Handel and Mrs. Don Gardner to ask if they had an interest in helping her start up a "special project" she had in mind.

The Show Must Go On

Oklahoma weather has struck again and while it puts a damper on everyone expectations on what they want to accomplish, at Lyric Theatre the show must go on.

Yesterday the schedule for the production team and cast was rearranged in anticipation of the weather changing and another change in the schedule is happening as I type. This of course is to ensure the safety of all involved.

The PC has rehearsal spaces, offices, the costume shop and the prop shop. During this video you will hear our academy students rehearsing in the background.

Snapshots Opens In Two Weeks

As of today we are a mere two weeks away from the opening from Snapshots: A Musical Scrapbook. There are so many reasons I am personally excited about this show; and I will share a few with you.

1)    It’s a new musical to Oklahoma.

2)    Stephen Schwartz is coming to town.

3)    Richard Maltby, the director, is a genius.
