2012 SUMMER CLASSES
Summer Performance Camp
MONSTER CAMP
WE ARE MONSTERS- A New Children's Musical
by Denver Casado & Betina Hershey
We Are Monsters is an original musical that follows human kids into a monster cabaret filled with quirky monster characters. The adventurous humans uncover vegetarian vampires and rock n’ roll werewolves, gradually realizing there may be more to these monsters than meets the eye! Most importantly these monsters and kids discover the importance of friendship and celebrating in the attributes that make each of us different and unique.
Camp Dates: June 4 – June 16, Monday through Friday from 10 am – 5 pm.
Performance Date: Saturday, June 16 at 2 pm and 6 pm
Ages 7-14
Tuition cost: $425
Camp Director: Stephen Hilton
Performance Location: Lyric at the Plaza, 1725 NW 16th St.
Monster Camp Auditions –
Friday, June 1 from 4 -6 pm and Saturday, June 2 from 1- 4 pm at Lyric’s Thelma Gaylord Academy, 1801 NW 16th St.
**You are not required to audition, only if you are interested in being seen for one of the principal roles in the musical. You can still enroll without auditioning.

Master Class Intensive
Ages 8 -18
July 23-27
Ages 8 -12 will take classes from 9:00 – 11:00 each day.
Ages 13-18 will attend from 11:00 – 1 pm each day.
Tuition: $175
Instructors: Lyric staff and guest artists from across the nation performing with Lyric in the 2012 Summer season.
Students interested in experiencing various specialized areas of theatrical study. Students will attend two classes each day: Stage Combat, Stage Make-Up, Improvisation, Dance, Vocal Projection
Theatre Magic
Ages 5 -7
July 30 – August 3 from 1:00-3:00
Tuition: $175
Kids ages 5-7 who love to be the center of attention! A fun introduction to musical theatre where children learn the basics of Acting, singing (solo & group), and theatre movement. The class will culminate with a short musical presentation.

Acting Classes
Acting/Character Study - $200
Introduction to the components of acting and the study of character creation.
Section 1: Ages 8-12 – Monday, 4:30-5:30 pm (Instructor: Mat Govich)
Section 2: Ages 13-18 – Wednesday, 4:30-5:30 pm (Instructor: Timothy Stewart)
Theatre Magic - $200
Instructor: Siobhan Morava
A fun introduction to musical theatre for the kid who wants to be in the spotlight.
Section 1: Ages 4-5 – Wednesday, 4:30-5:15 pm
Section 2: Ages 6-7 – Wednesday, 5:15 – 6:00 pm
Intro to Musical Theatre - $250
Instructor: Mat Govich
An introduction to the world of musical theatre performance. Students will learn the basic principles and techniques (acting, singing, movement, and terminology) to succeed in a musical theatre production. Students must complete one semester of Introduction to Musical Theatre before moving onto the Production class.
Section 1: Ages 8-12 – Thursday, 4:15 – 5:45 pm
Section 2: Ages 13-18 – Thursday, 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Adult Acting - $200
Instructor: Susan Riley
Adults of all experience levels learn about components of theatre and musical theatre.
Ages 18 and up – Wednesday, 6:00-7:00 pm
Production Performance Classes
Musical Theatre Production - $425

Students will apply musical theatre technique from a strong acting base to create the multiple characters called upon by the Academy’s musical productions. Students must have completed one semester of Introduction to Musical Theatre before moving onto the Production class.
Fall 2012 Production Show (Grades 2-12): Into the Woods music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim book by James Lapine
Fairy tale characters come to life in this award-winning musical about happily ever after and beyond.
Performance dates: November 8,9, and 10
Section 1: Grades 2nd - 7th - Saturday, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Section 2: Grades 8th-12th - Tuesday, 4:30 - 8:00 pm
Spring 2012 Production Show (Grades 2-7): Disney's Aladdin Jr.
All of your favorite characters are here in Disney's ALADDIN JR., a stage adaptation of the Disney hit film. Filled with magic, mayhem, and flying carpet rides, audiences' spirits will soar with excitement.
Performance Dates: May 4 & 5
Section 1: Grades 2nd – 7th – Saturday, 10:00 am – 2:00 PM
Spring 2012 Production Show(Grades 8-12): Sweeney Todd
Sweeney Todd,is a musical thriller with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and libretto by Hugh Wheeler. The musical is based on the 1973 play Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street by Christopher Bond.
Performance Dates: April 26,27 & 28
Section 2: Grades 8th – 12th - Tuesday, 4:30 – 8:00 pm
RoKademY: the musical - $300 per semester (A two semester class. Enrollment is closed)
Instructor: Matthew Alvin Brown
Students will create and perform their own Rock Musical under the direction of Matthew Alvin Brown. This is a two semester class with a live performance at the end of the Spring 2012 semester.
Ages 12-18 – Monday, 5:00 – 8:00 pm
RoKademY performance date: May 26 at 2 pm and 7 pm
Dance Classes
Intro to Dance - $200
Instructor: Cassie Olson
Designed for beginners in all aspects of dance. Students will learn the basics of Tap, Jazz, Ballet and Theatre Dance throughout the semester. This will help the student to move into the next transition of their dance level.
Ages 8 -12 – Monday, 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Theatre Dance - $250
Instructor: Susan Webb
Students will learn the basics steps of theatre movement and how to learn combinations quickly. Students will build upon the techniques taught and focus on how movement is used to tell a story in the musical theatre genre.
Ages 12-18 – Wednesdays, 5:30 – 7:00 pm
Ballet - $250
Instructor: Jevon Hart
Students will be introduced to the fundamental exercises, techniques and steps of classical ballet.
Beginning Level: Ages 12-18 – Monday, 6:15 – 7:45 pm
Basic ballet terminology, correct body alignment, simple adagio and allegro combinations introduced in barre and center work.
Intermediate Level: Ages 12-18 – Monday, 4:30 – 6:00 pm
Further study of classical ballet. Emphasis will be placed on developing an aesthetic awareness of the art, understanding ballet terminology and perfecting technique. Students will review basic exercises and terminology.
Tap - $200
Students will be introduced to the fundamentals and traditional steps of tap dance with an emphasis on proper technique. This will include such skills as dexterity of the feet, basic weight shift, balance, placement and turning.
Beginning Level : Ages 13-18 – Thursday, 6:00- 7:00 pm (Instructor: Cassie Olson)

Dance Magic - $200

For the kid who loves to move! A fun introduction to dance were children develop basic motor skills, balance, timing and physical awareness.
Ages 4- 7 – Thursday, 5:00-5:45 pm
